Post JEE Results

Finally... the awaited results are out! Hearty congos to all who've come out with flying colours. The Merit List was topped by Anumula Jithendar Reddy from the Chennai Zone. In all, 13k odd students made it thro' to the Merit List.
Now a bigger challenge faces the qualifiers... COUNSELLING!
Counselling is a process, which allows the students to cast their choices of stream and/or institute. This year, the process is an online one, for the first time in the history of IIT. Rest assured, the bottomline remains the same.."Better the rank, more the choices you get."
Going by last years' opening and closing ranks, IIT Bombay Computer Science and Engineering opens (and closes) at the beginning. You can get a detailed list of the Opening and Closing Ranks in JEE 2009 in the IIT websites or in the Counselling Brochures that you would ideally be receiving.
In addition to the 7 old IITs: Bombay, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Delhi, Guwahati and Roorkee, seats will also be allotted to the 8 new IITs : Ropar, Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Jodhpur, Mandi and Indore and ISMU Dhanbad and IT-BHU.
Last year, in 2009, 69 people out of the top 100 AIR opted for IIT Bombay, which seems to be the favourite among toppers.
Please opt for the branch that interests you, and not the one that "others" suggest you to.
And feel free to drop in your queries. :)

Paradise Institute: Students Beware...

An IIT-JEE coaching institute in Patna, Paradise Institute is a prime center of forgery, aimed at cheating young IIT aspirants. It publishes ads in Arihant's Spectrum and MTG's Mathematics Today, promising huge prize moneys if you happen to be a student in any form of the institute. This is what it looks like..
AIR 1 : Rs. 5,00,000
AIR 2-10 : Rs. 4,00,000
AIR 11- 100 : Rs. 3,00,000
AIR 101-500 : Rs. 2,00,000
AIR 501-1000 : Rs. 1,00,000..
and so on..

I got an AIR of 968, and had been a correspondence student for one year. Accordingly, I was supposed to get a merit award of Rs. 1 lakh. But as hard as I tried, it was all in vain as they did not respond at all in its favour. They kept on twisting and turning dates, like they do every year, with every student of theirs. And what was more, they have had guts to publish an identical advertisement this year too.

Guys and girls, DO NOT fall in the trap. Join hands to fight against such social evils, who repeatedly make a fool of us students, YEAR AFTER YEAR. Get these criminals behind bars...
